performative hatred of the US south does nothing other than demonstrate your own classism and how little you care for the marginalized people who live there and fight tooth and nail against voter suppression and gerrymandering

question: what are the best journals publishing work in literary studies that accept work by authors with BAs and MAs, not pursuing PhDs?

If you’re a legacy news organization that insists on muzzling your reporters on social media, you’re going to have trouble attracting the best young reporters, especially those who belong to marginalized groups.

My dream last night was getting an essay test back from my sixth-grade history teacher with a perfect score but with a long note about how surprising it was that I did so well because my “behavior in class” indicated that I didn’t know anything So, another dream about academia

I could not be more proud of myself for finally submitting these revisions for this essay that I first drafted in literally 2014 and around which the world has changed

Academic vulnerability: I just turned in a revised essay that I got the R&R for in the summer of twenty EIGHTEEN. In the time that's passed since then, I: 1. Began a full-time job 2. Left that full-time 3. Had multiple shame spirals around missed deadlines 4. Got ADHD medication

Which colleges and universities are rejecting ? Which ones are embracing it? Which ones refuse to say? We've launched a new scorecard, because students & staff have a right to know if their school is planning to use invasive surveillance

The podcast reveals that 1. it's true, the direction was very tricky and complex and involved lots of weird blocking!!!! 2. it was directed by showrunner Mike Schur which seems UNFAIR, as I am personally offended when men are good at more than one thing

The final episode of The Good Place needs every award for editing! I don't even know ANYTHING about video but the way they handled scenes / angles / cuts was a revelation! And now I get to listen to a PODCAST ABOUT HOW IT WAS MADE

Want to amplify this - requiring photo ID/government ID to sign into buildings can be common in tech spaces but it definitely excludes people, including sex workers, trans, and undocumented folks. Tech friends, how are you making *everyone* welcome?

it may seem sometimes like i despise tenured profs. i don't! i even quite like some of them and have found them and their work inspiring. but you gotta admit that tenured profs at R1s really got a spot on the ark, and some of them don't care what happens to everyone else
