Happy memories of playing the incredible Grand Prix Legends in the Edge office in the 90s, with the sound turned up so fkin loud that people came to complain about the screaming engine noise from the other side of the building 😎😅 youtube.com/watch?v=2nPQrh

So, before you drive the Lotus 49 on @iracing, firstly you need to learn the language of the community and the terminology frequently used during the race. Here's your first crash course. You're welcome :) #simracing

Rumours of a new PS5 model with a detachable disc drive, you say? Well, at least there are some great precedents for that kind of hardware design...

Bit late to the party (!), but I just Platinumed Ghost of Tsushima on the PS5. Save game says it took just over 145 hours. IRL? 6 months, on and off. Loved it, never grew bored of it, and now… I think I’ll miss it. Thought it was an incredible achievement by

Is it just me, or do others find that when someone constructs a question as… ‘Could you please…?’ …it comes across as super passive-aggressive? (I can only read it as, ‘Could you PLEASE…?!)

Remembering my dad today, on the first anniversary of his death, I managed to resurrect his Akai 8-Track and listen to some of his almost 50-year-old mix tapes. The soundtrack to my childhood. Miss you, old man 💙

Lovely interview with . I especially liked his explanation as to why the early days of game development were so magical. I think that kind of feeling is what we’re all chasing, that rare sense of making something totally new, right on the cutting edge, at speed.

I think I’ve written on here before about the experience of finding a gold disc with ‘MOH’ scrawled on it, under a pile of sports game releases in a Jiffy bag posted to the Edge office. I stuck it in the PSone and, oh, this is a nice surprise! (Yeah, the original Medal of Honor.)

A rather lovely pancake day treat from ⁦⁩ today at the ⁦⁩ studio. My kids will be officially Well Jell. (What was the rule again? Six each, apparently, according to one member of our leadership team… naming no names… you know who you are! 😉)

The meeting room biscuit jar at work has had a hammering in the last 24 hours. This bad boy was full yesterday morning!

It’s 11 years since I joined this thing. I did it when I knew I was going to do ‘something’ under my own steam - which turned into lovely Wish Studios (RIP). The journey has been amazing, highs and lows; I’ve learned so much. Thanks to all who’ve talked & listened along the way x

I've been looking at hundreds of CVs for various roles and - if this is any help at all - here are some thoughts on common do's and don'ts 🧵 (1/6) - Do write a role-specific intro letter that shows interest in your employer. Generic = bin. - Do keep that brief (150 ish words).

#olddogproducer tip I recently shared at the office. If you need to sketch a one-year timeline on a whiteboard, don't get bogged down counting out 12 months. 1. Mark the ends 2. Mark the middle 3. Break each half into thirds 4. Split the thirds Easy😎

Having conversations at work about the complexity of a feature versus the effort needed to explain it to players, I was reminded of this car park ticket machine I once spotted. If you need extra instructions this detailed, it might be time to rethink your fundamental design.

Teachers being on strike (which I support) is a mini flashback to lockdown life and trying to work with kids at home needing endless IT support and cajoling into doing homework 😭

ICYMI, it’s there’s a fresh Closed Alpha for this weekend, complete with a new map to play. I’ll be playing later on (somewhat incognito…) and can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks of our shiniest, newest magic!

Dammit! I reinstalled Game Dev Story to take a screenshot for this Tweet, and now I can’t stop playing it again 🤦‍♂️😂

Just reading @keefstuart’s article on the game industry in 2023, and the ‘collapse’ of genres. It’s time to recognise the incredible prescience of Game Dev Story’s genre-mixing New Game feature, and the role it has played in shaping the future of games. theguardian.com/games/2023/jan
