This is such an important, sad & portentous documentary by about how, like Tryweryn was drowned to quench nobody’s thirst, corporations are gazumping farmland for forestry to literally plant the seeds that will devour Welsh farming communities & our language along with it

“Conifers where once was community, Forest in place of farms…” Ian and Rhiannon O'Connor hoped to buy their first farm in the Carmarthenshire hamlet of Cwrt-y-Cadno, to allow their family’s roots to flourish. 🧵👇
The Cothi Valley – a patchwork of farmed fields and ancient woodland, with a scattering of small homesteads, and an old village school.

Brilliant programme on earlier – ‘Where Once Were Farms’. Poet Casi Wyn met people who have been directly affected by the loss of Welsh countryside to external forces. I’ve just come back from Carmarthenshire, so it was particularly interesting. Give it a listen 👌🏼

Just stumbled into this “Where Once Were Farms” feature documentary on - This is a beautiful piece of work - full of Welsh voice, poetry & culture. Some profound commentary on the future of family farms too. Very much recommend you give this a listen 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

how wonderful (and natural) it would be if we were to hold an uniquely Welsh name on our leading stadium in Wales. Beyoncé won’t even know whether she’s singing in Wales or Sunderland
