    It's pretty much the equivalent of a game set in WWII where they keep forcing you to fight FOR the Nazis and if you're even remotely literate in history it's just... bizarre. Like I get that it's been a couple thousand years, so in a sense w/e, but just... WHY?!?

    The one thing I find genuinely baffling about Odyssey is the way it keeps forcing you to fight for Sparta. Like... you folks do know Sparta was the unabashed villain of the Peloponnesian War, right? The game even refers to the mass slavery of the Helots FFS.

    What Georgia offered Amazon: A state-funded academy to train its employees. An exclusive lounge - with free parking - at the world’s busiest airport. A dedicated car on MARTA. And more than $2B in publicly-funded incentives.

    They are, almost to the last, genuine true believers, b/c they've been so thoroughly isolated from the rest of society that they don't have any choice BUT to believe. It's all they hear. Sort of like Fox, but for genocide. I remember her saying that muslims supported Wilders FFS.

    She's not stupid, either. Key to modern nazi movement is social isolation and info control, and that's exactly what they did. It never occurred to her that a bisexual woman with a genetic birth defect and a long family history of mental illness isn't ubermenschen material (her)

    They get so caught up in skin color and nationality that it somehow didn't occur to her that hey, maybe the LGBT muslim woman isn't okay with nazi-ism. Because I'm white, right? In fact, it was the nazis who were going to protect ME from the scary muslims!

    One of my most vivid memories is of a political discussion with my ex where she revealed that she had begun to identify as a nazi. Both because A) holy shit and B) just the way she was so genuinely surprised that I not only didn't, but that I found it horrifying.
