Thanks to the organizers of the on somatosensation for their refreshingly liberal interpretation of "cortex".

A fun symposium that brings together the UW comp neuro community. This year, my lab will be represented with talks from Pierre Karashchuk about his 3d tracking tools () and about using GEVIs to image presynaptic inhibition in proprioceptor axons

A volunteer sent us this video of a sprightly Chionea high up in the San Juan range of Colorado. So far, we've only received reports of snow flies in states with legal weed (WA, OR, CA, NV, AK, ME, VT). Coincidence?

My phone got soggy from a couple days in the snow and when it woke up it sent a news article about the cuttlefish 3-D glasses paper to half of my whatsapp contacts, mainly airbnb hosts in europe and s america. The replies were 100% joy.

We collected over a dozen snow flies in blizzardy conditions while touring in the backcountry near Mt. Baker last weekend. Found this tough fellow hard at work running around looking for mates at ~5200 ft on Mt Barometer.

1/n Motor cortex controls the arm by sending neural activity patterns to the spinal cord and brainstem. But how are these patterns generated? We study this question in our new paper in , with J-Z Guo, J Cohen, M Mischiati, , et al.

This is Point Wilde and it’s where Shackleton’s men camped and waited for about 4 months whilst Shackleton, Worsley as navigator, Crean, McNish, Vincent and McCarthy left for South Georgia in the James Caird. It is incredibly bleak
