Hanlon's razor: "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity" "Stupidity" may be a bit confrontational; "non-omniscience" works just as well. I also like to remember that "literally everyone's winging it - no one knows for sure the right path".

I thought the standard approach was to contact your opponents requesting their thoughts on your work (they hate it, whatever) then thank them for their contribution in the acknowledgements... ... because then they are precluded from formally reviewing the work.

seriously nerd-sniped yesterday afternoon by all the comments asking for R support... here is _grosling_, an R interface for Gosling it's still (in my best love island impression) *early days*, but a start towards making these tools more accessible to others in the community! twitter.com/seandavis12/st…

Oh, and don't get me started on there being TWO distinct, incompatible products, both called Minecraft, coded in different languages, that require different configurations for people on different systems to be able to play together. What a world.

I (eventually) managed to configure a hosted Minecraft server for my kids (and me, and friends) to play on and I thought I'd reached a comfortable level of knowing 'names of tech things' but after that, I feel like an idiot again. Paper, Spigot, Geyser, Bukkit, Floodgate...

"fizzle v8.2 produces a malformed cromple" "smorkle fails to connect to working glump service" "make_brumble throws error when smizzle is a flurp" You don't need the entire test case in the title, but if someone else is debugging a weird cromple, maybe this will help them.

Great advice, and also consider the longer term value of community knowledge - reading through github issues with titles "it doesn't work" "this is broken" "I get an error" is painful - make your help request searchable.

With the newest version of Git 2.37.0, you can run just "git push" to push new branches. No more "--set-upstream origin". Enable with: git config --global --add --bool push.autoSetupRemote true

The #RStudioConf2022 program committee hasn't met a problem that can't be solved with R. Here's a little post about a mundane task – resizing and cropping 100 speaker profile images – that turned out to be fun with #RStats, {magick} and hashtag AI*.
