If people don't want to hear it that might point a more weighty problem than how it is worded.
Note about writing copy... You cannot both "suggest" a user do something and then require that they do it on form validation. I know people don't like to tell people something they don't want to hear, but sugar coating it isn't helping anything or anyone.

In this case (and another that happen earlier this week), its disguising something that isn’t even a problem. Or the design team is not talking to the dev team. With way, it’s a UX problem that doesn’t need to be one and is easily fixed.
