They must mean the first case this year. We have cases in the west almost every year. I’m all for the media reporting the news but these headlines seem to just want to needlessly alarm an already anxious public.

She misquoted a local article — unless the local outlet quickly revised under the same link. She should delete it because it is, now, at least, misinformation. It appears she was being a critic of the article? Not sure.
