Creators do need to think about their responsibilities. It IS dangerously irresponsible to do that. Any responsible portrayal of violence against women would be profoundly thoughtful and deeply critical. These games fail that, to put it mildly.
Oh my god dude. Women are almost always defined in media in relation to men. They are typically wives, daughters, mothers, girlfriends, but rarely the focus of the story, rarely the ones whose humanity is being explored and validated.

Portraying women typically as "virtuous" or good, rather than allowing them the full spectrum of humanity in media that men occupy, is itself oppressive and limiting, and reasserts the position of male as dominant and default, and female as other. This is not complicated.
