Toxic masculinity looks at the whole of society, video games just happens to be the topic. People, institutions, media, etc. reinforce cultural values. Video games are not exempt. Describing social phenomena is not a moral panic.

Creators do need to think about their responsibilities. It IS dangerously irresponsible to do that. Any responsible portrayal of violence against women would be profoundly thoughtful and deeply critical. These games fail that, to put it mildly.

We don't complain about it because it's not, in and of itself, a problem. The problem is largely that it's ONLY men who are used in that way, and often if women are, they are sexualized and objectified in the process.

Is this a serious question? Come on dude. You can figure out why male rapes are particularly high in prisons. Shouldn't men assault more women? Really? Um, no. The rates of physical and sexual assault of women by men are already far, far too high.

Your perspective seems to be "Because the media is not the only thing that has an impact on us and clearly doesn't control how people act 100%, it has no impact on us whatsoever." We are very clear that media is an influence, not, like, the sole controlling factor.

Ah. Bad people are just bad. What a wonderfully individualistic worldview that allows us completely off the hook, bearing no responsibility whatsoever for the culture we create for ourselves and each other.
