I tell this little story not for sympathy, but just as a reminder that, even in areas that are considered particularly safe and accepting for LGBT people, leaving the house as a trans woman and facing the world every day takes a certain amount of bravery.

I can’t imagine the bravery needed. I am sure there are many others who feel they’ve been put into the wrong body but don’t have the courage to face the world everyday as the person they know they are.
