Wow, this really sucks. What a strange development of the modern era. Can you imagine a film operating this way, our digital copies being updated so that songs that play during major scenes are forever removed ten years after release?https://twitter.com/i/moments/989851587232321537 …

Other phenomenal songs being removed from the game: Stevie Nicks - "Edge of Seventeen" Electric Light Orchestra - "Evil Woman" David Bowie - "Fascination" Angel y Khriz - "Ven Báilalo"

Like, if something like this happened to GTAV, enh, not great, but those songs are background. In GTA IV, they’re immigration, they’re dreams, they’re desires, they’re illusion and reality, they’re America, they’re colliding cultures, they’re New York.

Yeah, that would be terrible. But what if John Cusask held up a boombox blasting Monster Mash?

This does happen with TV shows on DVD/Streaming. Licensed songs - particularly diagetic ones - replaced with cheaper alternatives or generic music.
-
Also international tv shows! Japanese showing of terrace house has Taylor Swift songs and all sorts, UK and US netflix version replaces with completely unknown songs. V strange when they discuss the soundtrack in show!

It's appalling. This happened to the VHS release of "Blood Simple", where they didn't have the rights to the 4 Tops tune from the theatrical release.
