GTA IV’s soundtrack is, in my mind, the all-time great licensed soundtrack, for creating a soundscape of thematic resonance that revealed the character of the city while also just being chock full of fantastic songs. Now some of that is lost.

Oops, Say Anything... lost the rights to “In Your Eyes” so the song will be replaced in those scenes with “She Blinded Me With Science.”

Like, if something like this happened to GTAV, enh, not great, but those songs are background. In GTA IV, they’re immigration, they’re dreams, they’re desires, they’re illusion and reality, they’re America, they’re colliding cultures, they’re New York.

That happened to Beavis & Butthead. My favorite part back in the day was their ripping on music videos. All that has been removed from later releases of the series for that very reason.

It took ages for The State and Daria to get dvd releases because of MTV having so much free reign to music licensing on their shows in the 90's. It's really weird watching both shows with very generic music playing over stuff.
