(2/2)brutality of the genre in general. If we wan't games to actually be considered art, we have to accept that they'll come under a level of scrutiny. It comes with the package. Just because golden eye doesn't self criticize like SOtL does, doesnt mean it can't be criticized.

Counter argument: No. It is absolutely possible to have a conversation about how films like John Wick, Rambo, etc etc take your pick harmfully link cultural notions of masculinity to domination through violence. You can even do so WHILE STILL ENJOYING THOSE FILMS!

The violent media IS inherently linked to our cultural notions of masculinity! It constantly reinforces ideas that men should be tough, show little emotion, be willing and able to dominate through violence or the threat of violence, etc.
