Kratos: Kills his enemies with an axe. OooOOoooh! How original! Yoshi: Literally swallows enemies, turns them into eggs, and hurls those eggs at more enemies. BRUTAL!!! You clearly have no problem disparaging the quality of a game based on your own tastes. They're both fine games; you should be able to tell that, whether or not it appeals to you, personally.

I shouldn't have to explain this but the tweet was a joke. The comparison between Kratos and Yoshi was in no way serious. Still, I'll gladly disparage plenty of popular games (or praise unpopular ones) based on my own tastes, experience, and perspective. THAT'S WHAT CRITICS DO.

No, that's what bad critics do. Actual critics disparage or praise works IN SPITE OF their own personal biases. I don't even like playing GoW, actually, but it isn't because I think the games aren't amazing.

You should have more faith in your own beliefs and experiences. It's okay to think the God of War games aren't good. The tendency toward consensus in gaming criticism is what's bad, the overwhelming lack of diverse opinions and independent thought.

As for diverse thoughts and opinions in game criticism, those things only have value to the extent that the viewpoints can be defended and justified. Gamers' Opinion and Feelings Monthly is of no use to anyone interested in games.

I think you & I just have very different ideas about the whole point of art criticism. If every critic gave every movie/game/book/TV show the same score as every other critic, we wouldn't need multiple critics of anything. Just the one, to tell us what "all critics" should think.

I'm not aware of any game ever receiving a perfect metacritic score, so there are diverse/dissenting views already. In any case, a game being too well received by critics doesn't mean it should have more negative reviews just to make it even.

Some ppl giving a game a 95 while others give it 100 keeps it from getting a "perfect" Metacritic score but I'd hardly call them dissenting views. I'm absolutely not talking about making it perfectly "even" for each game. I'm just saying we could use a wider range of perspectives

If there is a case of a minority opinion that goes against what almost everyone else says, they still have an objective case to make that explains the dissent.

How does that jive with what you said earlier about games either being "good" or "bad"? Also, there is absolutely no such thing as an "objective" review. Every review comes from a particular perspective, with particular values.
