I don’t doubt that it was. Don’t get me wrong I love innovation and a great story with interesting characters. Except when I only have an hour or so a day I just to blow something up or play something with short matches. As I told my students, if you want compelling read a book.

I...okay. I don’t understand what that has to do with the piece I wrote. I mean I think we need different kinds of games that do different things whether people play games for an hour a day or five.

And to not expect more of games would be sad. I respect games as a medium too much for that. I don’t think they’re going to stop making games where you just blow shit up. But please don’t let those be the only games.

Matpat actually did a review on this a number of years ago. I can provide a link if you like. Don't get me wrong I love innovation. I just don't have the time or the money to venture out of my comfort zone. Case in point "Life is Strange" is sitting in my PS4 library unplayed.

I mean, Life Is Strange was a huge hit, and beloved by a tremendous number of the people who played it.

Let me ask one thing. Out of the three Zelda games Zelda, Zelda 2 and A Link to the past which one are you least likely to stream live?

I don't think that question has an answer. I've streamed both Zelda 2 and LttP. Zelda 1 is also a classic and not especially "unlikely" for me to ever stream.

I think I should point you to Game Theory. He makes his point using graphs and numbers. He uses game cube to make his point though. He said it was the most innovative system at the time but the system as a whole didn’t do well. I actually loved GameCube for that reason.

I'm sorry but I'm having a really hard time following the point you're trying to make. It seems to me you're saying that overall, ppl are somewhat less interested in innovation? OK, so what? That doesn't mean games shouldn't be innovative, or that innovative games never do well.

Ugh I can’t make counter arguments on twitter. I’m trying to say it isn’t the developers that prevent innovation. It is us the consumer. I will admit I would kill for a good modern turn based rpg right about now. They are hard to find anymore.

But innovation is happening. I talk about that in the piece I wrote that you're responding to. Maybe it's not exactly the kind of innovation that interests you, and that's fine, but it interests many of us.

Innovation is always happening. Thank goodness for sites like newgrounds who set the groundwork for independent gaming. What I always thought would be cool is a game like Skyrim but in space. Perhaps tech similar to Dune.
