The point of the 70's & 80's references in the book was that the guy who made the Easter Eggs was autistic and all of them were references to his childhood & teens... >_<

I suspect they just want to cram in stuff that will resonate with a wider, more mainstream audience than, say, the 1975 D&D module Tomb of Horrors will.

Yeah, clearly Tom Sawyer is on the soundtrack, but I doubt the film gets into the rich, rich fiction of 2112.
