The beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark implies that Indiana Jones has been trekking through jungle for a long time with local guides following an ancient map to locate the temple that he robs.

So how then does he have a pilot waiting on a very nearby river in a fucking seaplane ready to rescue him when he unexpectedly has to run away from Belloc's hired tribesmen?

And how does he not already know that his pilot has a pet snake called Reggie? Presumably they've flown together to get there, or how would Indy know where to find the plane? This is 1936, communication options are limited.

It's almost as though Stephen Spielberg banked on me not questioning the logistics of this shit for a whole 36 years and well I'm not standing for it, it ends NOW.

I just hope this film contains no other ridiculous illogicalities I may previously not have noticed, or I am going to be pissed.

The submarine part always bugs me. Indy travels on a German sub at one point but the movie doesn't explain how, at all. He must, one assumes, somehow enter the sub...does he then remain unseen, on an extremely cramped U-boat???!?!

So many like this. How did they manage to work all night to dig up the ark without being noticed until dawn? What were they planning to do with it, “surrounded by 30 miles of desert in all directions”? Why didn’t the lead car simply slow down when Indie hijacked the truck?

But I think you’re right, the submarine part was particularly egregious. At first I thought it was a short passage, but NOPE! We get a map overlay showing them crossing from Libya (?!) past Crete to some Greek island. Plus submariners turning wheels, presumably to dive.

That used to bother me but apparently U-boats go faster on the surface than submerged, so it's possible it stayed surfaced for the whole journey to wherever it went to.
