I'm actually liking Breath of the Wild more the more I play it AFTER beating it, the more that I explore the world for the world's sake.

The shrine discovery system is so smart. No waypoints scattered all over the map. You've just got to get out there, climb those mountains.

It encourages a kind of intimacy with the world that I think is missing in most open-world games, a sense that the world itself matters.

I kind of wish FFXV had done something like that, although I haven't had time to work through my thoughts on that. :/

Yeah, I enjoyed sitting in the car watching the scenery roll by but that game felt so unsure of what it wanted to do with its story & world.

If I ever get the time I'd like to explore what BotW is doing and translating that to the road trip / small towns / wanderlust thing in FFXV
