Quantum Break brings to mind Timeshift and Ubersoldier, which had very similar time-bending mechanics.

There's no chance for a story to develop or intrigue me when the characters spend so much time explaining it me, and to each other.

They are really explaining things to the audience, of course, but do it too often, and too blatantly, and it's clumsy and unnatural.
