@carolynmichelle Same. Rey, Finn, & the wider jump on lingering issues of race & gender in Star Wars franchise make it so welcome though.

@carolynmichelle As a full movie, I'm still processing it, but certain aspects of the new Star Wars made me feel welcome like never before.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

@carolynmichelle This is the biggest Hollywood movie in years and... it gets way more right than I ever expected. Feels oddly hopeful.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

@tellahtruth I agree. I came out of the film uplifted, and my issues with the film don't detract from that.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

@carolynmichelle That's my feeling, as well. Again, still kind of thinking about it, and I'm sure the second viewing will help a bit.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

@carolynmichelle I know The Force Awakens does amazing as a Star Wars, and I'm still ruminating on how well it does as a movie. heh2 replies 0 retweets 0 likes -

@carolynmichelle mhm. And at least when there was CG it was generally not the focus. It wasn't CG + actors. It was actors + CG.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

@tellahtruth Yeah. I mean, I thought Maz was great. I really felt like it was a Lupita Nyong'o performance.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

@carolynmichelle True. She still came through. Though, I love John Boyega, and it was great seeing him so much.3 replies 0 retweets 0 likes
@tellahtruth Some aspects of Finn's story arc REALLY don't make sense to me but I still want to embrace this film for what it does well.
