I *love* Ghostbusters (1984). Part of what I love about it is that it is truly a working-class comedy. The four heroes are workers who get dirty and grimy (and slimy) every day and end up saving the city.

I'm more interested in that aspect than in a movie that goes for every "remember this?" dopamine hit it can cram in. The trailer may be exaggerating that aspect of the film, and Afterlife may end up being good and interesting in its own way, but I'm not too optimistic.

It also seems to be elevating a lot of stuff that was originally designed to deflate portentous fantasy world building into portentous fantasy world building

I enjoyed the previous Ghostbusters movie, although it's a shame that the woman who played Holtzmann has turned out to be quite transphobic. This new one could be good, maybe, I'm not going to get my hopes up.
