...well, you know, it's THE number. it's THE VIDEO GAME NUMBER. and at this point, to me, the video game number feels like some winking, knowing, obligatory thing, a way of saying to gaming fans, "yes we play video games, we know video games, we're in on it, too!" (2/)

and IMO this is not particularly good or interesting. it's just this insular thing that's meant to make us feel good for "getting it." for being fans. i love games but i'm not a fan anymore of stuff that's supposed to make me feel good for being a "true gamer," one who "gets it."
