It's always funny to me to hear people talk about meditating as a way of trying to calm the constant chatter in their minds, because due to my long history of depersonalization I'm often so completely out of touch with my inner monologue that I'm unaware of it and I HATE it.

If my brushes with mindfulness are anything, they are, in part, an effort to get my awareness of my mental chatter back. I miss feeling like I have engaged thoughts and feelings and reactions about things all the time.

Hey Carolyn! I'm not huge on esoteric medicine and treatment doing a unique thing only. What I mean is if Meditation for you means hearing what your brain and your heart is trying to tell you then I say welcome. Take care of yourself. :)

I appreciate that! To be clear, I haven't had a problem with people telling me "Meditation IS for calming the chatter in your mind." Rather, I just find it interesting that for so many people, that's an issue, whereas I have practically the opposite issue, I want MORE chatter!
