I realized recently, seeing a critic share all these ways in which The Mandalorian directly references other pop culture stuff, that I feel a similar ambivalence there. (2/3)

Normally I love seeing filmmakers cite other filmmakers, but when Star Wars is doing it on the scale of Mando, it feels more to me like a cultural juggernaut consuming and repurposing other things to serve itself. Making everything Star Wars. But I might just be being cynical.
