I think what Noah is reacting against here, more than anything else, is the reduction of popular culture to exact mirrors of reality and commentaries upon it, and at the same time, the conversion of criticism into political editorials.

That’s all well and good but it’s also perfectly valid to criticize Nomadland for adapting a book that is unflinching about Amazon’s cruelty into one that liberals can watch and feel comforted by its cozy depictions of Amazon & the way its central character chooses her lifestyle.
