I've heard of the term being used for people without notable trauma, but I've always been a bit skeptical as someone considered similarly sensitive. Similar to "empath" talk and the like which often sidesteps how widespread the effects of complex trauma can be in our society.

To be fair, as an autistic woman, I was rather sensitive to things early on, but I attribute part of that to its necessity in a world hostile to difference. After so many years of being "highly sensitive", I suppose I hold some bitterness and do genuinely question the concept.
