So one of the problems with being a guy who has tried to make "give small, broken games a chance!" a core message of his work is that when I encounter something I viscerally don't like but is made by a small team it gets hard to rant about.

Like, it's one thing to complain on Twitter that Mankind Divided does not deserve a positive reevaluation (it does not, it's bad) but it's another thing to go on Twitter to basically say "fuck these ~5 people's years long efforts in particular."

I hear you. Intellectually, I'm on team "sometimes the badness of a game needs to be reckoned with, and we should give games of any size the respect of treating them with the same directness and rigor," but emotionally it can be tough because people read it as churlish.
