I guess for me it's much more interesting to both read and write a character that has flaws than one that is a moral Mary Sue. It leaves room for mistakes, for growth, for gray areas; for space to consider morality and motive. Not condoning bigotry and bad writing, though.

To be clear, I love morally complex or flawed characters. I'm certainly not advocating for media in which everyone is either wholesome or rotten, or any such thing.
