I like Nomadland. I’m glad to see it getting so much attention. It’s a film of stunning beauty, and Chloe Zhao is a tremendous talent who I can’t wait to see more of. But Nomadland isn’t angry enough about what it’s about for me. I hope more people see Sorry We Missed You too.

Why not focus on a character who liberal viewers can’t look at and think to themselves, “Well, she’s choosing this life, it’s what she wants so it’s okay”? I also disliked the way scenes in Amazon workspaces were chummy and almost pleasant. It’s not like that.

Yes!!! Hardcore agree with all of this. It’s a very beautiful film that stirred a lot of emotions in me, but the whole thing had a kind of liberal apathy to it- as if saying “look how bad some people have it” is a sufficient statement for a piece of art to make.
