Christopher Plummer was electric onscreen from The Sound of Music to Knives Out. His Oscar-winning role in Beginners is the one that means the most to me personally, for the way it suggests that those of us who have missed out on so much can still be the person we’re meant to be.

One thing I think was particularly true of Plummer and made him particularly fascinating as an actor was the way he could make both tremendous kindness and evil/egomania irresistible onscreen, those qualities always animated by his characters' (and his own) obvious intelligence.

I can't think of many actors his age that had such an amazing body of work so late in their careers. He knocked it out of the ballpark in the 2010s.
