this film sure fails WW as a character. pedro pascal's max lord ultimately gets to be far more human and interesting than she does. she's like a symbol of virtue, but the removed, boring kind, not the warm, complex, human kind like christopher reeve in the early superman films.

if you think this isn't the most relatable character in the film to me, let me assure you that it absolutely is:pic.twitter.com/ycUYaazuZ4

Oh my god. That's what I thought. Like how dare they want change?

So overall, WW84 and Joker have the same message.

It’s the same exact monkeys paw story as ever, a sort of moral insistence on the status quo because any change would be worse.

absolutely mind-boggling that this film has “superhero uses someone’s body as a sex toy w/o their knowledge or consent” and there are still four or five other choices *still in the running* for Worst Thing In The Movie!

The way I squealed when the first thing Cheetah notices when she's "attractive" is losing weight

it's a shame "be careful what you wish for" stories suck so much, there's a lot of room there for diving into a characters wants and desires and how those things reflect on their life, upbringing, and the society around them without being "wanting better for yourself is bad"
-
i know i shouldn't look to highly commercialised superhero stories for this stuff, but superhero stories are in their nature very aspirational, and i can't help but want them to reflect what we can be
