This new piece by @mattzollerseitz about The Mandalorian and Star Wars as a whole is really excellent.https://www.vulture.com/article/the-mandalorian-season-2-finale-star-wars-skywalker-saga.html …
I promise that nobody is trying to stop you from enjoying Star Wars. But...it kinda DOES sound like you are asking people to be “uncritical.” That’s all this piece is: thoughtful, engaged criticism.

It's not this one piece. It's years and years of pieces. Some thoughtful, far too many not. I'm just tired, and depressed. Nothing is good. Nothing is worth having, or doing.

This rant isn't being levelled at any particular think piece, and it's not something I first thought about this evening. I've been worn down over years, perhaps all the way back to 1999 and Episode 1.

FWIW, I think that there are in fact plenty of people trying to stop anyone from enjoying any given thing. Especially any genre thing, especially if it involves women or non-whites or any form of "social justice."

To be clear, not saying this particular piece is in any way part of that. But it's all part of a continuum. Even the people whose opinions I respect (MZS among them) are telling me that things suck.

Honestly
@thielavision isn't wrong, that's how the piece reads. When a solid 12 paragraphs are dedicated to directing veiled insults at people who enjoyed the Cameo appearance it becomes really hard not to interpret it as a pretentious white man demanding the reader not have fun.Thanks.
