so a fun thing is that occasionally across the past few weeks i've felt like maybe my heart was fluttering, or maybe i was just imagining it, IDK. but it's totally the sort of thing my anxiety can fixate on and start to freak out about, and this year, i'm anxious to begin with.

The cardiologist who reviewed the monitor (and saw nothing of concern) called it most likely "increased cardiac awareness" tied to stress and anxiety - exactly what you describe, noticing more of the basic function/variance that usually gets filtered out. interesting stuff!

exercise is one thing, but the thing exercise does that no one tells you is it gets you used to hearing your body do stuff in ways you never heard before. At first it can be alarming but then you just come to understand it’s like background noise usually.
