I haven’t finished the game yet but one moment I saw was a Japanese clothes saleswoman talked with a very “Japanese accent” and V called her out and said the accent is fake at which point the lady dropped it and talked normally. But like I said, I haven’t finished it yet

It's also linked to how AAA power fantasy games are kind of just inherently ill-equipped to actually face issues of societal discrimination. You can't really explore themes of oppression if your protagonist needs to be a cool guy who can do whatever they want in the game space

@Campster did a dissection on this problem with Deus Ex Human Revolution. The game is supposedly about how cyborgs are oppressed, but Adam Jenson, a cyborg himself, is still a cool dudebro badass who never gets stopped by the police or discriminated >>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMEMsjKpas8 … - Show replies

I modeled my V after Forest Whitaker’s character in Ghost Dog. Basically an African-American street samurai. All the voice options are white people-sounding

playing as an asian V, i feel like i'm the only asian character that isn't constantly talking about "honor" or "respect". i imagine a hispanic V would stand out just for not switching to spanish every 3rd word, and a haitian V for not having an accent. V is deffo white inside.

For what it's worth the Spanish is at least pretty decent in the bits I'e played so far. And the actors are native speakers with fairly consistent accents, which is more that you typically get from US productions.
