Our collective notions of what games crit should be are still deeply broken when reactions like this occur. Solidarity always w/critics who have to endure tidal waves of fanboy rage because they dare to offer a unique POV or to just not tell fans exactly what they want to hear.

Literally the only games I could not see 7/10 as a defensible score for are the ones that are really fundamentally terrible.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Whiplash flashbacks to our 7/10 for the Other Big Game Of 2020, which we classify as VERY GOOD. BTW really enjoyed your review of The Newer Big Game!

Thanks Mike!!

Jim Sterling quit giving scores soon after people freaked out over his 7/10 for BotW. Then he and Laura on Podquisition started rating games on a scale of "Great" or "Perfect" (only those 2 options) as a parody of hardcore gamer expectations for reviews.
-
Arrgh! My bad, Jim prefers "they" to "he" now. Still getting used to it.

I've been having this conversation on multiple fronts today. I'm someone who really wants to see Cyberpunk to understand it and experience it, I also absolutely loved your review and am so glad to have those opinions there to ponder as I play through it myself.
-
In my view, just about the best thing a review can do is give us new ways to think about games for ourselves when we play them, so thank you for the lovely compliment.
