part of it is i deliberately avoid like looking up good builds online (w/pretty much any game) cause i don't want it to get into my head that this boon is always better than that one or whatever, i always just want to do what i feel like, i don't want to see it as a math problem.

and i say that fully acknowledging that doing that kind of meta stuff is something that adds a lot to the enjoyment of many games for many players, that's totally cool, it's just not my thing

It is a numbers game rather than skill per se, fwiw: the maxed Zeus aspect shield starting at 30 damage a spin instead of 6, for instance, or leveling a random boon every four rooms, etc. You’ll get there!

yeah i've never been much of a number-cruncher of a gamer in all my 40+ years, i'm not gonna start closely analyzing builds and whatnot now hahaha, i just pick what feels good and sorta seems effective to me in the moment

Sometimes it just doesn't work out. I was on a streak of almost 20 in a row feeling invincible, and just utterly failed my last two runs. Happens sometimes =)

That's just how it is! Rogue-lites aren't "That Which Does Not Kill Me Makes Me Stronger" it's "EVEN WHAT KILLS ME MAKES ME STRONGER - ALL I DO IS WIN"

I started playing in July and I haven't beat it once. Husband started in September and now he's beating it almost every run. I'm not bitter at all.

My experience is I never follow online builds. I always get to hades now, 100%, but after 50 runs, I have 14 wins. Tells you how hard that fight, or the hits you take on your way there, are

yeah i always get to him too. i really like the difficulty level of the game, i like that (for me) victory doesn't feel assured from the start
