I wrote about The Last of Us Part II, games as dreamspaces, and how this game completely lost me, then won me back just a bit. Like the game it's about, my piece is arguably too long, but I had a lot to say. I've never wrestled with a game quite so much.https://medium.com/@carolynpetit/broken-people-broken-worlds-thoughts-on-the-last-of-us-part-ii-a012de5d2acf …

TLOU is universally considered a classic, so a sequel was never going to meet everyone's expectations and satisfy all the fans. But imo a great sequel builds on what came before and expands not just the world, but develops the characters and the central idea at its core- (1/2)

(2/2) For my $ the games are metaphors for love. What we become when it's taken from us and what we will do to find it again and our own redemption. I hope Ellie finds her love again - and her purpose. Maybe in part 3, or maybe in our dreams. Either way, it's been a ride!
