Perry Mason is a refreshing shift from all the irredeemable Walter Whites and Barry Berkman/Blocks as well as all the good cops of TV: a fundamentally decent man driven by anger at a justice system that is, on every level and in every way, deeply unjust.

I also appreciate that we know Paul Drake, the Black cop who betrays his racist colleagues and the whole racist institution of the LAPD to help Mason help the innocent, is taking an infinitely bigger risk than Mason is.

I hope you enjoy it. I'm really excited by all of its revisionist aspects: how one major character is gay, another is Black, and just how it takes place in a Los Angeles actually populated by all kinds of people. I also think the production design is incredible.
