God, it's been over 5 years now since Letterman went off the air. Felt like I needed a good cry so I watched the Everlong montage again. The power of it, feeling time condensed and fleeting, years gone in minutes, across so much of my own life, is intense:https://youtu.be/2EMtwKZhBIs?t=3089 …

So good, seen it a dozen times. Watching it again this time, I was struck by this random frame of a woman with a dog. It's towards the very end, after all the former presidents, in the echelon of Johnny Carson, Robin Williams, Paul Newman, Lou Reed, and Warren Zevon...pic.twitter.com/7249VBF6FP

It took some digging, but I found out it was a woman named Michele O'Callaghan, who worked as Dave's personal makeup artist for 23 years. When she died at age 48 in 2011, he gave this on-air tribute to her. Thanks for leading me to this. (cw: death/cancer)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_4eGL06mXo#t=4m35s …

Yeah, I remember that tribute. One thing I loved, watching Late Night and then The Late Show over the years, was all the familiar faces, the way the crew really felt like the lifeblood of the show. It's a lovely tribute.
