I wrote about The Last of Us Part II, games as dreamspaces, and how this game completely lost me, then won me back just a bit. Like the game it's about, my piece is arguably too long, but I had a lot to say. I've never wrestled with a game quite so much.https://medium.com/@carolynpetit/broken-people-broken-worlds-thoughts-on-the-last-of-us-part-ii-a012de5d2acf …
Thank you, Kevin!
It was a beast of a game to wrestle with. It means a lot that people are finding value in my response to it & I'm glad to see the game provoking a lot of thoughtful criticism. It makes it easier to view the garbage reactions to the game as desperate and sad.

I should return to it. Like with most ND games, I find myself developing neither connection nor satisfaction, so I bounced off quickly.

That's totally fair! I knew I wanted to write about it; there were times when I felt I might not have pushed through otherwise. I found it worthwhile because it gave me so much to engage with and think about, but we all have limited amounts of time, and have to pick and choose.
