Reviews for games like these feel made for the accolades trailer of the game, rather than a critical analysis for the potential consumers.

Interestingly a number of critics did engage with TLOU2 more critically I think, but you can see the resistance to the shift in that direction in things like the Sony rep contacting at least one publication to push back on aspects of the review.
