I wrote about The Last of Us Part II, games as dreamspaces, and how this game completely lost me, then won me back just a bit. Like the game it's about, my piece is arguably too long, but I had a lot to say. I've never wrestled with a game quite so much.https://medium.com/@carolynpetit/broken-people-broken-worlds-thoughts-on-the-last-of-us-part-ii-a012de5d2acf …

I want to say that I particularly appreciate all those readers who are engaging with and finding value in this piece despite (or even because of) disagreeing with parts or all of it. Thank you.

I disagree with a few parts but I feel like the way you wrote was completely true to yourself and how the game made you feel. There are some parts of your article where I felt things differently but I also agree with the things I actually disagreed. Does that make sense?

It's like I saw added another layer of what the game made ME feel. And I think that this is where the game really is excellent: in making you feel intense and complex stuff, and making you find layers and layers and more layers, just like your article.

What a wonderful compliment, thank you! I think that’s just about the best thing a critic can do.
