For being in a place called Night City it sure does take place in many bright shiny days.

Not sure if same, but this is me and the Last of Us 2 and ND games in general; even the dirty things seem clean, as if everything has been arranged and worn *just so*. Scratches and smudges all carefully drawn rather than created by overuse, or accident, or weather, or time.

This takes place sum 30 years after cyberpunk Red. After the rebuilding and environmental cleanup efforts of some of the companies from the war. Corporations have given the world a glossy coat of paint over the rot and is how I see it.

Right? Especially in the latest trailer it feels like wealth and status is the primary motivation of the main characters. Capitalism isn't being opposed, it's being celebrated.

Have you ever played Shadowrun, the pen&paper rpg? It's the main inspiration for the gameplay and they really nailed it. You can't fight against corporation, you can just try to survive.
