I know, this has kinda become my soapbox in recent years and I’ve said this a hundred times but part of what I struggle with re: the convos and anger around game crit is that I often get MORE out of reviews I disagree with.

And what’s at the root of this? In the simplest (and most grossly over-simplified) terms, capitalism. Mainstream game sites marketed and built around the idea of blind enthusiasm and making readers feel good, rather than challenging them or risking alienating them.

I also read more into the reviews than we there the reviewer thought it was good. I've read 10/10 reviews that left me knowing I will never touch them, and 0/10 ones that had me downloading it that day
