If you only want a diet of reassuring reviews, man, you’re missing out! A wider range of perspectives can only enhance your appreciation for games as a whole! We’re so hamstrung by the idea that reviews should comfort us and affirm our tastes & our investment in games as a whole.

And what’s at the root of this? In the simplest (and most grossly over-simplified) terms, capitalism. Mainstream game sites marketed and built around the idea of blind enthusiasm and making readers feel good, rather than challenging them or risking alienating them.
