White supremacy, anti-Blackness, the violence of militarized police forces, fascism, economic injustice, transphobia, etc. are not just ideological sports or thought experiments. This isn't fucking high school debate club. People's lives are on the line.

Also, as others have pointed out, it's not as if people like Weiss think all ideas deserve the platform of the New York Times. They KNOW that's not what free speech means. They, too, make decisions about which ideas deserve such a platform and which don't.
