I have an almost insatiable appetite for a whole ecosystem of gaming criticism that more closely resembles the film criticism of the 1970s than anything games criticism has ever really looked like. But I don't know how we get there, how we even take steps in that direction.
I disagree, or at least to me personally this has nothing to do with anything on the development side. I'm talking about how critics engage with and write about games. I think we can be as subjective, distinctive, uninterested in consensus etc. as Kael, Sarris et al were.
