Also I might need to see it in action w/my own eyes, but while I approve of the B&W "samurai movie" filter in theory, in today's State of Play showcase the gameplay happening underneath that filter looked way too weirdly smooth for the "old samurai movie" illusion to work at all.

It's a beautiful historical setting at least, shame it's yet another male lead only though. It looks very pretty but that's about all.

We're probably past the Era where delicious eye candy can gloss over less compelling aspects of games, sadly.

Between this and TLOU2 I'll probably go with Ghost of Tsushima, if for no other reason than to avoid feeling utterly miserable while playing it. TLOU2 looks like they took the unrelenting bleakness and hopelessness of the first game and cranked it to eleven.

For the way they are trying to hype it I agree. Red Dead 2 still looks better and Witcher 3 still has a more dense lively open world. Nothing new or innovative was shown.

Samurai and flowers are enough to pique my interest right now. If I’m bored or it reviews well, I might pick it up.

there is Japanese audio included along with subtitles, but it was kind of embarrassing to see the dialogue play out without the subtitles to accompany the brief clip. The black and white filter might also be a fun feature if you want to pretend you're Toshiro Mifune, I guess.
