To be clear, it’s not puzzle logic itself that I object to. I often adore worlds that are meant to be viewed through that lens. Myst, escape rooms, all sorts of things. It’s when people start viewing art in general as something one can essentially decode and win that I object.

It makes as much sense as producing a deep dive YouTube series on the meaning of Rorschach tests. It always read to me as a way to justify intense fandom or hatred of a work.

that's something I hate in all other aspects of media too—the [insert film here] ENDING EXPLAINED genre on youtube is actively making filmgoers lazier and less inclined to actually think about the films they watch in any complex way
